The Evolution of a Slyman

Natural Worldly Order

Occasionally I take a little time and focus myself in a different direction. I do this for a variety of reasons. As I have grown older though, this occurs more and more for the same reasons. I am always looking for insight, inspiration, and understanding. What I am seeking though is not always on the same level. On the contrary, it is always on the next level. I find myself always reaching for that level just beyond my grasp. Just as soon as I can put my finger on it; the pull from where I am becomes overpowering and it slips from me. That slip sends me hurling towards the next thing I will reach for. This can be seen as the movement of my eye.

I have come to recognize a pattern within this balancing motion. It is not always the same pattern. It changes; it evolves. Maybe that is related to where I am when I begin, or maybe it is related to what I am reaching towards. What I can be sure of, is that the pull back is always overwhelming. In each cycle, there is more that seems intuitive to me. Age has given me perspective of the natural worldly order. As the seasons pass, that perspective seems to metamorphosize to an intuition. This can be seen as the awakening of my eye.

Why is it that the gifts of wisdom are only received in the passing of our physical prime? Can it be that the carnal is the prior of mind? Should this be the case, then can we rationally conclude them to both be the prior of spirit? How can one be prior though when it appears to cycle through? How can they be separate at all? Perhaps it is a motion being examined. This can be seen as the focus of my eye.

Often I am found in the state of intrigue, as if things were new to me still. It is the natural order I find most fascinating now days. The hours I spend in contemplation, are somewhat astounding. I wonder how the Mistress of the Earth will dispose of the virus known as mankind. I think to myself, have we over the course of a couple hundred years, made ourselves such a plague? Continuously offsetting the harmony of the sphere can only result in a handful of scenarios. The most extreme for us being the dichotomy of evolution and extinction.

For the purposes of this entry, I think I can leave that as enough said. Instead let me just expound on what evolution in social context might look like. I don’t want to paint some utopian abstract, so please excuse the notion should it occur. My notions here are firmly grounded in what I have observed of our nature.

We will first have to (as a species) come to a consensus of what type of species we are. Are we to continue the behavior of the invasive variety? Perhaps becoming planet killers? Do we look towards the stars as an infinite repository of resources to be consumed? Are we some version of a bastardization of Nietzschean Buddhism? Are we nothing short of the most elaborate and beautiful snowflakes made from acid rain?

Should we instead accept the natural worldly order and the inherent qualities of which we have arisen from. In doing so, can we find our balance in the ecosphere of this world. An old friend of mine once said to me, that every man is a teacher; if we are just willing to learn. I find so much truth in that and not just at the level of mankind. What I mean is that among all living things, there is a lesson just waiting to be learned. If there are things that, we as a species are having difficulty overcoming; perhaps we should look both inward and outward. Our ability to draw comparison and correlation is one of our greatest achievements.

Let us empty the vessel that is our mind and look to it as curious children do. Let us be honest and introspective to truly understand our nature. Let us not fear anything that we see. There’s nothing to be ashamed of and certainly nothing to be repressed. All pain and suffering are equal to all ecstasy and delight. Nothing is ever truly destroyed, nor is it lost. Armed with this understanding we can perceive the natural worldly order.
